| Willard Frick, 83, of Sweet Home, died on Sunday morning
at the Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis. Willard was
born on February 7, 1923 in Hastings, Nebraska, the son of Jacob and Mary Frick. Willard
entered the United States Navy during WWII, serving four years. He met and later
married Vivian Nielsen on April 17, 1952 in Nebraska. The young couple came to
Oregon in the 1950s. Willard worked in lumber mills and later plywood mills
after moving to Sweet Home in 1960. | | | | | Willard
would eventually retire in 1974. He and Vivian became snowbirds, traveling to
Yuma, Arizona during the winter. Vivian passed away in 1995, while in Arizona.
Willard continued snowbirding for four more years before deciding to stay in Sweet
Home. Willard enjoyed traveling, gardening, and playing cards. He loved
to watch baseball. His family remembers him as a woodworker and leather worker.
He loved family and his grandchildren. Willard is survived by two sons:
Donald and wife Nancy Frick, and Richard and wife LeRee Frick; one brother: Kenneth
Frick; three grandchildren and their spouses; and grandson Brian. He was preceded
in death by his wife Vivian; parents; two sisters: Helen and Pauline; and two
brothers: Clarence and Harold. A viewing is scheduled for 9:00-11:00 am
Wednesday, January 17, at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel. A graveside service will
follow at 1:00 pm at Gilliland Cemetery in Sweet Home, Oregon. | |
