Ryan David Hocking, age 19, died as a result of an ATV (all terrain vehicle) accident Friday, July 20, 2007. He was born September 11, 1987 to David and Tina Hocking in Dallas, TX.
Ryan grew up in Atwater, CA attending Atwater High School, where he was a Falcon football player and homecoming king. After graduating in 2005, Ryan moved to Florissant, CO, where he worked in construction with his dad. In May 2006, Ryan moved back to Atwater to spend one last summer enjoying life with his friends.
After moving to Sweet Home, Ryan got a job at Entek International and quickly made friends. With his new friends and job, Ryan was able to buy some new toys. He spent his time customizing his new truck, playing his music loud, and riding his quad. He enjoyed making people smile and loved his family, especially the time he spent hanging with his grandpa, Butch. He recently told family members “I am living a dream.” Sweet Home had become his home. |

Ryan is survived by his parents, Tina Larsen and husband, Jeff, of Sweet Home, and David Hocking and wife, Laura, of Florissant, CO; brothers, Devin Larsen, Mark, Benjamin, and Donovan Hocking; sisters, Brittany and Bethany Hocking; grandparents, Butch and Dori Lawrence of Sweet Home, Linda and Bill Roupe of Mariposa, CA, Liane Hocking of Merced, CA, Dave Hocking of Atwater, CA, Norm Larsen of Merced, CA; great-grandmother, Beth Hocking of Pontiac, MI; uncles and aunts, Melvin Lawrence and Todd Lawrence of Winton, CA, Kenny and Angela Weld, of Sweet Home, Chris Hocking of Merced, CA, Terry and Edna Larsen of Sweet Home, Randy and Diana Heller of Atwater, CA.
Viewing will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 pm Wednesday, July 25, at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, July 26, at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel, followed by interment at Gilliland Cemetery.
A memorial service will also be held in Atwater, California at 1:00 pm on Saturday, July 28, at Evergreen Christian Center, Winton Way, Winton, California.
