Barbara Lais, age 91, of Lebanon, died Thursday.

She was born in Shelbyville, Illinois to Ezra and Ida (Eash) Kropf. Her family moved to Junction City, Oregon in 1935 and she married John Lais in August of 1938.

Barbara was a member of the Lebanon Mennonite Church, and most recently lived at the Lebanon Rehabilitation and Specialty Care in Lebanon, Oregon. She leaves her friends and family with many fond memories and, by the example of her life, she leaves a Godly heritage.

Barbara is survived by her children, Idella Mukasa of Santa Ana, California, Irene Bornman of Senegal, West Africa, Dan and Amelia Lais of Lebanon. She has 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; brothers, Clarence, Elton (who died at age 4), and an infant brother; sister, Sadie, who died at age 1; and sons-in-law, Lotani Mukasa and Rod Bornman.

Viewing will be 2:00-5:00 pm Sunday at the Sweet Home Funeral Chapel. Funeral Service will be at 10:00 am Monday at Lebanon Mennonnite Church. Final burial will be at 2:30 pm at Zion Mennonite Cemetery in Hubbard, Oregon. Memorial contributions in Barbara’s memory may be made to Western Mennonite School.
