Susan G. Patterson, age 46, of Sweet Home passed away Sunday. She was born in Brownsville, Oregon to Joseph Nathan and Katherine Theresa (Miller) Thornton.

During her life, Susan lived in Yucca Valley, California, Black Meadow Landing, Arkansas, and Sweet Home, Oregon.

She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary and the VFW. Susan liked to sing and go rock hunting. She enjoyed driving in the woods with the heater on, the windows down and the music up. She loved being with her grandkids.

Susan is survived by one daughter; Julie Thornton of Sweet Home; two sons, Keith and Mathew Harkey, both of Sweet Home; ex-husband and forever friend, Dave Patterson; three step-daughters, Tammy Patterson of Washington, Teresa Patterson of Alaska, and Amanda Johnson of Salem; three grandchildren, Kyle Thornton of Sweet Home, Josh Leis of Camas, Washington, and Taylor Judah of Camas, Washington; two sisters, Linda Emery of Bend and Lisa Thornton of Vancouver, Washington, three brothers; Willie Thornton of Portland, Ward Thornton of Sweet Home, and Thomas Thornton of Portland.

Susan has left us to join her father, Joseph Nathan Thornton; mother, Katherine Theresa Miller, and her beloved son, Richard Harkey.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 pm Saturday, November 10, at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel. A potluck gathering will be held at the VFW following the service. Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
