Edna Mae Avrit, age 92, of Foster passed away Saturday. She was born in Marcola, Oregon to Johnathan and Ruth (Shackelford) Purcell.
Edna and her husband purchased Foster General Store in 1946. Her husband was the postmaster from 1946 until his retirement in 1971. She she ran the store and was a clerk in the post office.
She was very active in the Sweet Home chapter of Eastern Star. She enjoyed woodcarving, sewing , knitting and crochet.
Edna is survived by her children, Gail Mauch (and her husband, George) of Foster and Roger Avrit (and his wife, Maggie) of Marietta, Georgia; sister, Annave Purcell Murray of Portland; 11 grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell “Bud” Avrit, and sister, Jewell Odette Tallman.
