Phyllis Jane Brewster-Durr, age 76, died June 2, 2008 at Marion Estates. She was orn May 18, 1932 in Cottage Gove, Oregon to Elma and Walter Brewster.
Phyllis attended elementary school in Viola, Oregon. She and her family later moved to Idaho where Phyllis graduated from Midvale High School in 1950.
Phyllis married Richard Jarchow in 1951 and later divorced. She returned to school and graduated from Oregon College of Education with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1969. She then worked at Fairview Hospital. Later, she worked as a Correctional Officer at the Women’s Penitentiary in Salem. |

Phyllis married Lee Durr in 1975, and they spent their retirement years as campground hosts in the Hells Canyon Recreation area for sixteen years. They also spent many winters in Arizona.
Phyllis is survived by her husband, Lee; her three sons, Walter Brewster of Sheridan, Ronald Jarchow of Independence, and Christopher Brewster of Molalla; sister, Barbara Sheldbourn of Grand Ronde, Oregon; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 6, at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel. Her ashes will be placed in Highland Cemetery.
