| Kenneth C. Smith, age 94, of Sweet Home passed away Monday. He was born in St. Paul, Minnesota to Harry C. and Catharine (Over) Smith.
Casey was proud to be a Shriner and a charter member of the Sweet Home Elks Lodge. He served as Exhalted Ruler from 1970-1971 and held continuous membership for 53 years.
He moved to California where he worked in the oil field. He later co-owned a successful dry cleaning business in Seal Beach. There, he met Martha Weems and they married July 5, 1946. |

Casey and Martha settled in Sweet Home in 1946 to raise a family. He worked at Willamette Industries in Foster for 30 years and retired in December 1976. After retiring, Casey and Martha spent many great years traveling to Arizona in the winters with their travel trailer as snowbirds. They spent most of the summers at Siltcoos Lake, fishing and boating. They truly got back every penny they spent on that travel trailer and boat.
Casey is survived by daughters, Diane Verdugo of Julian, California and Bobbi Bronstien of Peoria, Arizona; son Ken Smith of Sweet Home; and many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Smith, July 30, 2005.
A combined memorial service for Kenneth Casey Smith and Martha W. Smith will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 26, at Gilliland Cemetery. A memorial gathering at Sweet Home Elks Club will follow. Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling services.
