| Laverne T. Long, age 92, of Sweet Home passed away Tuesday. He was born in Haldane, Illinios to Howard and Bessie (Conrad) Long.
He and his family moved to the McMinnville, Oregon area when he was a child. He married Clara Apple in 1938; later divorcing after the kids were grown. He lived in Sweet Home since 1954.
He owned his own logging truck and worked in the logging industry for most of his adult life. He later married Millie Royster, and during their retirement, they enjoyed traveling in their RV.
Laverne is survived by daughter, Shirley Ainsworth of Albany; son, Gary Long of Puyallup, Washington; sister, Carol Cooper of Longview, Washington; ex-wife, Clara Zemlicka of Albany; four grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by wife, Millie, and sister, LaVonne Eric Halverson.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at a future date.
Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling services.
