| Ruth Elizabeth DeRosier, age 90, of Sweet Home passed away Thursday, March 26, 2009. She was born July 19, 1918 in Pomona, California; the daughter of Roy William and Frances Viola (Stevens) Wortman.
She met and later married Michael “Vince” DeRosier. They raised one son together.
In 1961, Mike and Ruth felt they needed a lifestyle change and started looking for land they could farm. Their search brought them to the Liberty district where they finally settled. Ruth later moved to Sweet Home and continued working as a Vision Therapist for Dr. Kyle.
Ruth loved Sweet Home and was active in the community. She was a member of the Sweet Home Chamber and The Ambassadors. Ruth was also a past member of the Business and Professional Women Organization.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael DeRosier, and brother, Robert Wortman.
Ruth is survived by her son, Jim DeRosier, and his wife, Jullia, of Salem; grandchildren, Michelle and Michael; great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Kimberly, Adin, and Gavin; and numerous nieces and nephews in Sweet Home, Albany, and California.
A viewing will take place from 9:00 a.m., to 12:00 p.m., on Thursday, April 2, 2009 at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel. At Ruth's request, a graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 2, 2009 at Gilliland Cemetery in Sweet Home.
