Robert Paul Harer

Robert Paul Harer was born in Phoenix, Arizona on December 25, 1926.

When Bob’s father passed away, Bob took over the responsibility of helping his mother, Thelma, and five younger siblings. 

Bob served in the Army briefly. He had many types of jobs, from soda jerk to log truck owner/driver.

Bob and his wife, Marjorie, moved to Oregon November 1962 with their three children. They lived first on Green Peter, and then Crawfordsville where they were custom poultry growers. Bob’s last job was as a parts chaser for Melcher Logging.

Bob attended Community Chapel and participated in the Empty Nesters group. He also enjoyed classic country western music and even sang along.

Bob is survived by his wife, Marjorie; daughter, Pam Barbee of Sweet Home; sons, Kevin Harer and his wife, Jan, of Hillsboro and Scott Harer of Sweet Home; grandchildren, Cynthia Bell and her husband, Jack, of Sweet Home, James Griner and his wife, Shellea, of Texas, Allyson and Douglas Harer of Hillsboro, Mickie Harer of Coos Bay, and Katie, Logan, and Seana Harer of Sweet Home; and great grandchildren, Kimberlee and Nicole Bell of Sweet Home, Baileigh, Madilyn, and Jamie of Texas, Trinity and Evan Harer of Coos Bay, and Lucas Johnson of Sweet Home. Surviving siblings are Jack Harer and his wife, Arlene, of Arizona, Bonnie Bean of California, and  Jesse Harer of California.

Robert is preceded in death by his brother, Bill Harer; sisters, Carol Knight and Alyce King; and great grandson, Coby Harer.

A memorial service is planned for 2:00 p.m., Sunday, April 19, 2009 at the Sweet Home Senior Center, 870 18th Avenue. Come share in the celebration of Robert's life. Bring jokes and stories.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Safe Haven Animal Shelter.

Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling services.
