| James "Jim" E. Hopper, Sr., age 72, of Sweet Home passed away Monday. He was born in Eugene, Oregon to Vernon William and Rosetta E. (Rhodes) Hopper.
He served in the US Navy from 1954 to1968 and traveled the world. His rank was QM2E5 and he received five Service Medals. He moved to Sweet Home in 1969 and worked as a carpenter for many years.
Jim loved hunting and fishing. He enjoyed giving people a hard time. His two most favorite things in life were his family and his pets. |

Jim is survived by his wife, Cleo, of Sweet Home; children, Cheri (Hopper) Thornbrough of Sweet Home, Jeanette (Gali) Settles of Sweet Home, Teresa (Hopper) Swanson of Sweet Home, Jim Hopper, Jr., of Hillsboro, and Troy Hopper of Sweet Home; brother, Harold “Hal” Hopper of Eugene; 19 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and one great, great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather, Earl Lloyd; brother, Vernon “Bud” Hopper; sister, Donna (Hopper) Hutton; and two grandchildren.
A viewing will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 5, at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel. Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 6, at Victory Faith Fellowship. Final burial will take place at Gilliland Cemetery.
