| Milo Dwaine Putnam, age 80, of Brownsville, passed away Tuesday morning. He was born in Gothenburg, Nebraska to Frank A. and Minnie M. (Carey) Putnam.
Milo, also known as Mike, lived in Blackfoot, Idaho where he met his wife, Ella Norine Herrick. They married August 24, 1950. In 1952, they moved to Oregon. They lived in many places around Oregon, including Portland. They moved to Brownsville in 1968.
Milo was a member of the Cement Masons Local 555. He enjoyed working on many buildings and bridges in and around the Portland and greater Oregon area. He also travel to and worked around Alaska, including Juneau, Fairbanks, and Anchorage. On his trip to Fairbanks, his son, Frank, was traveling to work with him. They had quite an adventure driving to Prince George, B.C., and taking the ferry to Skagway, and then on to Fairbanks. Pops often reflected on those many jobs and was very proud of the accomplishments.
He loved to fish at Green Peter and Foster. He liked to barbeque, and it's been said he had the best BBQ chicken in the land. Camping was always a fun family activity, starting with his children, and then, in later years, with the grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Norine Putnam; his son, Frank; daughter-in-law, Pamela Putnam; daughter, Deanna Ray; granddaughter, Wendy, and her husband, Cliff Landers, and their children, Dustin and Carlee; granddaughter, Holly, and her husband, Joe Voltin, their children J.D., Gracie, and Rayna; granddaughter, Kelly Stauffer and her children, Jerame and Jacob; grandson, Tom, and his wife, Alicia Miller, and their children, Noah and Micah; and granddaughter, Heather, and her husband, Vance Taylor, and their children, Kendal and Paige. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, including Sharon and Dave Lite.
A memorial luncheon will be held at the Brownsville Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1111 Main St., Brownsville, 3:30 p.m., May 9.
