| Axel Walter Schmidt, age 73, of Sweet Home passed away Sunday. He was born on May 19, 1936 in Berlin, Germany to
Walter and Alice Anna (Hedwig) Schmidt.
Axel married Leonore Wassermann in August of 1959. The couple moved to Toronto, Canada. After four years in Toronto, they moved to California where Axel worked as a steel fabricator. They came to Sweet Home in 1994.
Axel enjoyed the outdoors; boating, hunting, and fishing. He spent a lot of time inventing and figuring out different ways to make things.
He is survived by: his daughter, Angie Houck of Sweet Home; a sister in Germany; grandchildren, Jessica, Ronald, and Mikaela of Sweet Home; and great grandchild, Aubrie, also of Sweet Home. Axel was preceded in death by his wife, Leonore.
No public services are planned.
