Elaine Marie Halsne, age 83, of Sweet Home passed away Monday. She was born in Rockford, Illinois to Patrick Henry and Mary Claire (Bertchie) Cleary.

She graduated from West High School in Rockford, Illinois in 1943 and lived in Rockford until 1957. She then lived in various places in California until settling in Redding in 1963. She left Redding in 1999 when she moved to Sweet Home to live with her daughter Kathi. 

Elaine worked in the timber industry in the Redding area doing lumber shipping and billing. After retirement, she was very active with the Humane Society in Redding. 

She is survived by: her daughter, Kathi Redick of Sweet Home; grandchildren, Jared Redick of San Francisco, California, Jason Redick of Sweet Home, Jessica Dixon of Albany, and Richelle Howard of Portland; six great grandchildren; and several cousins. 

Elaine was preceded in death by her brother, Jack Cleary, in 1938 and son-in-law, David Redick, in 2009.

Memorial contributions can be made in her name to the Humane Society.
