| Vernon C. Nivison, age 80, of Foster died on Saturday at his home. He was born January 22, 1929 in San Diego, California; the son of Carl Dolph and Josephine Margaret (Daniels) Nivison.
Nick moved to the Seattle area with his family as a child. It was there he met and later married Louise Holcomb. In August of 1947 the couple came to Foster where they created their homestead, eventually building two homes and raising their family.
Nick worked for Willamette Industries and the Linn County Road Department. In his later years, he drove trucks for local logging companies. |

Nick enjoyed carpentry and wood working, and hunting and fishing in the outdoors. He liked to go to the coast and dig for razor clams.
He served on the Sweet Home School Board representing Cascadia area families. Nick had a passion for the written word and loved to read his scriptures. He’d discussed many of the things he’d learned while teaching Sunday School and Adults.
He is survived by his wife, Louise; children, Mary Margaret Burton and husband Charles of Cascadia, John Mason Nivison and wife Linda of Bend, Gary Leon Nivison and Wife Krysia of Cascadia, and Marcia Marjan Watkins and husband William of Eugene; ten grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren with one more soon on the way. He was preceded in death by one granddaughter.
Contributions can be sent to Samaritan Evergreen Hospice in lieu of flowers.
Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling services. |
