| George D. “Ike” Ryan, age 77, of Sweet Home passed away Tuesday morning. He was the son of George and Ines (Baker) Ryan, born in Janesville and raised in the Footville area of Wisconsin.
He served in the Army from 1949 to 1952. He moved to Oregon in the early 60s and worked for an athletic club in Portland as a custodian.
He liked to hunt and fish. In his later years, he enjoyed gardening and making things grow. He had a big heart and liked to tease people. Even through his illness, he didn’t complain, but was positive and a good patient. He loved his wife and family.

He is survived by wife, Elvira Ryan of Sweet Home; daughters, Susan Martin of Indiana, Lora Massey of Arizona, and Leanna Dryden of Washington; sisters, Rosemarie LeTourneau of Lodi, Wisconsin and Kathleen and husband, Larry Dustan, of Janesville, Wisconsin; close friend, Bob Kenny; and grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Daniel Ryan, and brothers, Kenneth Ryan, Robert Ryan, and Quentin Ryan.
Graveside service will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 18, at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to American Cancer Society.
