| Mildred “Millie” Wallace, age 87, of Sweet Home passed away Friday night at home with her family around her. She was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana to Charles E. and Leona (Wagner) Dickens.
She was a long-time resident of Sweet Home. She moved here in 1971 from Reno, Nevada. She also lived in Indiana, Alaska, California, Germany, and Washington D.C. before settling in Oregon.
Her hobbies included gardening, sewing, needlework, and reading prior to the loss of her eyesight. She enjoyed working with youth as they learned Cub Scouting skills. She was a Gleaner and loved helping others. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She is survived by daughter, Diane Wertz (and husband Richard); sons, Jim (and wife Teresa), and Tom (and wife Connie), Robert (and wife Susan); and sister, Dorothy Jean Meyer. She has twelve grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her parents; and a brother, Tommy Dickens.
A viewing will be from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 26, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Sweet Home. Funeral service will follow the viewing at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to the Safe Haven Humane Society.
