| James Kenneth Funk, age 79, of Sweet Home passed away Tuesday evening at his home. He was born in Burns, Oregon to Francis Harold and Myrtle V. (Evans-Hughes) Funk.
James traveled to many places while he served in the Navy. He served active duty for 22 years and in the reserves eight years. He considered Oregon his home and settled in the Sweet Home area in 2005.
He loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and camping. His hobbies included making walking canes.
James is survived by his wife, RoseAnn; daughters, Charlene and husband Tony Soriano of Las Vegas, NV, Kathie and husband Richard Carlson of Portland, and Billie Jo Stockton of Tacoma, WA; sons, Paul of Mollala, Richard of Gresham, and John of Tacoma, WA; thirteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Martin L.; mother, Myrtle; brother, Harold; and grandson, Cody.
A memorial service with military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 9, at the VFW Hall in Sweet Home. Donations can be made in his name to the Navy Relief Fund (http://www.nmcrs.org/donation2.html).
Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling services.
