Barbara Ann Maxwell

Barbara Ann Maxwell, age 66, of Sweet Home passed away Saturday afternoon at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis. She was born in Denver, Colorado and adopted by Harry Edger and Adelaide Marie (Decker) Mathews.  Matilda Cardin was her foster mother.  

Barbara lived in many states from coast to coast, including Colorado, southern California, and Oregon before settling in Sweet Home in 1993.

She worked as a security guard in Oregon and Nevada and was a border guard on the Washington and Canadian border.  Barbara was a sergeant in the Oregon Defense Force from 1986 to 1993, and she and her husband, Mike, shared their respect, belief, love, and participation in the Oregon Defense Force.

Her hobbies included traveling, camping, reading, working puzzles of all kinds, and baking many varieties of breads.

She is survived by her beloved sons, Charles Harderson of Hillsboro, IL, Ron and wife Jessica Harderson of Sweet Home, Lee and wife Christina Harderson of Sweet Home, and Raymond Rosen of Littleton, CO; 14 grandchildren; and a number of good friends, including Janice Urben, Brenda Kroker, Tom and Mardy Hufford, Virginia Robinson, and Marion and Stan Barny of Portland.

Barbara was preceded in death by beloved husband, Michael Maxwell, 1992; foster mother, Matilda Cardin, 2005; Joyce Folsom, 1999; Urilda Walker, 2006; Stan Barny, 2007; and Anna Mae Romanov, 2009.   

Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling services.
