Melvin Miner, 90, of Sweet Home passed away Tuesday night at his home. He was born in Halsey to Atwood and Julia Esther (Sides) Miner.
He lived most of his life in Sweet Home. He played high school baseball and was on the boxing team. He married Wanda Coulter on August 17, 1940.
Melvin was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also had a big garden. Melvin coached little league years ago and loved watching local kids sports. He loved his family and friends.

He is survived by: his wife, Wanda of Sweet Home; sons, Randy (Jeanne) Miner, Larry (Jamie) Miner; daughters, Janice (John) Powell, Lisa (Danny) McCubbins; son-in-law, Bill Orr; 11 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
Melvin was preceded in death by: his daughter, Kathy Orr; siblings, Albert, Kenneth, Wallace, Amos, and Fred Miner and Alta Wright.
Friends and family are invited to a viewing at 10:00 am followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am Saturday, April 3, 2010 at Sweet Home Evangelical Church. Final burial will take place at Gilliland Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made in honor of Melvin Miner at Samaritan Evergreen Hospice.
