Charley Arthur Brown, 83, of Crawfordsville passed away Wednesday. He was born in Toledo, Oregon to Jess and Beatrice (Burgland) Brown. 

He served our country in the United States Navy during WWII. Charley was a Seaman 2nd Class and was honorably discharged in 1946. 

Charley married Louise DeBord Hammersly on June 6, 1960. 

He loved to hunt, fish, and watch NASCAR on TV. He was a gifted woodworker making small toys, boxes, and yard displays. 

Charley is survived by: his stepson, Tom Hammersly of Florida; sisters, LaVera Anderson of Sweet Home, Judy Schmidt of Junction City, and Jackie DeBord of Albany; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise DeBord Hammersly Brown, in 1994 and his brother, Jess. 

A viewing will be held from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m., also at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel. 

Vault internment will be at Valley Memorial Park in Hillsboro.
