May 21, 1936–March 28, 2018

Larry Eugene Elliott, 81, of Sweet Home, Oregon passed away Wednesday, March 28. He was born in Roseburg to Wilbert and Naomi (Young ) Elliott.

He served in the United States Army in the 1950s. His area of specialy was mathimatically calculating the trajectory of weaponry. Additionally, he played football for the Army and Boise State, winning one game against Elvis Presley himself!

After losing his father at three months of age to a logging accident, Larry and his mother made their way from Roseburg to reside in Sweet Home in 1936.

Larry found a niche in real estate for a number of years in the 1970s with his wife, Sue. Leaving real estate, Larry worked for the Sweet Home School District driving bus from the 1970s until retirement. He has been an active member of The Elks for many years.

Besides following the sports enthusiasm of his sons and grandsons, Larry made a “retired career” and built and rebuilt fishing poles and reels of every size and cailber. He attended sales and auctions for supplies for his passion. Larry also loved reading westerns.

Larry is survived by his son, Jubal L. Elliott, of Sweet Home; grandsons Ryan A. Elliott of Albany and Brandon G. Elliott of Sweet Home; granddaughters Elisha and Jessica Adams of Lebanon and Shenea Dana of Albany; daughter-in-law Candi Elliott of Sweet Home; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol “Sue” Elliott, in 2010 and his son, Oakley Elliott, in 2015.

A Celebration of Life potluck will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 7, at The Elks Lodge in Sweet Home.
