David Edward McMurtrey, 69, of Sweet Home, Oregon passed away Thursday, June 28. He was born in Sandpoint, Idaho to William Edward and Iris Lorraine (Schilling) McMurtrey.
He served in the United States Navy in Vietnam and Korea from January 29, 1969 to December 16, 1972. He received the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal.
In 2004, David moved from The Dalles where he was an electrician at The Dalles Dam and aluminum plant for years. He worked at Foster and Green Peter Dams as an electrician.
He loved rafting, fishing, and watching Fox News.
David is survived by his wife, Alice McMurtrey, of Foster; son Richard McMurtrey and his wife, Melanie, of Colorado Springs, Colorado; daughter Katrina and her husband, Brian Canon, of Oregon City; step-daughter Michele and her husband, Dan Smith, of Lyle, Washington; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Iris and William McMurtrey; sisters Bonnie Pleggenkuhl and Judy Pearson; and step-son Michael W. LaFaver.
