David William Olsen
August 21, 1949–October 14, 2018

David William Olsen, 69, of Sweet Home, Oregon passed away Sunday at his home, surrounded by his family, after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born in to William Leroy and Constance Jean (Johnson) Olsen.

He lived in Whitefish, Montana for a short time while a young boy, then moved to Five Rivers on the Oregon Coast. Shortly after, in 1962, they relocated to Sweet Home.

David’s first job was at the Sweet Home Shell Station. Not long after, though, he had his mom write him a note so he could work in the woods. Many years later, his brother, Mark, and he started Olsen Cutters. He retired from working in the woods when he was 64 years old.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and wood work. He loved his grandchildren and spending time with his family.

David is survived by his wife, Cynthia Olsen, of Crawfordsville; children Tammy Wright of St. Helens, Brandon Olsen of Crawfordsville, and Todd Olsen of Coram, Montana; brothers Kevin Olsen of Estacada and Brian Olsen of Montana; ten grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.
