Hiromi worked to gain her U.S. Citizenship. She became a proud American in 1972 and an active Republican. Hiromi and Jim lived in the Portland area for a few years, then moved to Sweet Home in 1978, where Jim was a police officer and city councilman.

Hiromi was an avid reader. She loved the Sweet Home Library. She was active in donating to and supporting the Jim Bean Memorial Bikes and Helmets Safety Fair.

Hiromi was very involved in the Linn County Republican Party for several years. She was very proud of her granddaughter, Jasmine Bean, who received a nursing degree. She was happy to attend her graduation. She was very pro education. She felt that a good education was a great equalizer.
